Across Europe, our customers in the wholesale business area include almost 69,000 pharmacies and medical institutions. The pharmacies we supply are located in the main shopping streets of Berlin, London, and Paris. They are situated in the residential areas in the suburbs of Gothenburg, Kaunas, Bergamo, and Szeged, as well as in the more rural regions in Appenzell or North Karelia. Besides supplying dispensing pharmacies throughout the countries in which we operate, we also offer our diverse wholesale services to dispensing doctors and hospital-supply pharmacies in many regions.
The PHOENIX group has a unique level of coverage in the European markets. Every month, we deliver up to 200 million packs from almost 150 distribution centres. We reach our customers on a daily basis, often several times a day. Depending on the local market situation, our range includes up to 100,000 items from more than 1,500 pharmaceutical manufacturers. The PHOENIX group is always at the service of pharmacies and plays its part in ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient pharmaceutical provision in Europe.
The pharmaceutical wholesale business is the most important link in the pharmaceutical distribution process. With our own warehouses and the close collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry, we make a broad range of drugs and health products from the various manufacturers available to our customers, delivering items promptly and directly to their premises. Our logistical expertise benefits the pharmaceutical manufacturers as well as our wholesale customers: we combine volumes, merge orders, and thus reduce the complexity for all parties involved. We handle distribution to the pharmacies on a country-specific basis via our transport service provider transmed, our own employees, or third parties.
We also offer our wholesale customers supplementary products and services. These include, for example, goods management and point-of-sale systems for pharmacies, via our subsidiary ADG. A diverse array of continuing education and training programmes, advisory services and information on the topics of health, and pharmaceutical provision completes our portfolio.
