Enlargement of the Executive Board: Dr Roland Schütz joins the PHOENIX group as Chief Information Officer

Dr Roland Schütz will be Chief Information Officer of the PHOENIX group

The PHOENIX group will enlarge the Executive Board to include the new board function "IT and Digitalisation". In doing so, the leading European healthcare provider stays abreast of the progressing digitalisation of healthcare, underlining its goal to drive forward innovation and trends in the sector.  

Dr Roland Schütz will take over the newly created position as Chief Information Officer of the PHOENIX group at the beginning of 2021. "Digitalisation plays an increasingly important role in our sector. With the appointment of Dr Roland Schütz to the Executive Board of the PHOENIX group, we ascribe the necessary importance to this fact and underline our aspiration to play an active role in digitalisation. I am delighted that we have gained an expert of international repute in this field, with many years of experience in one of the largest German companies," says Dr Bernd Scheifele, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the PHOENIX group.

Dr Schütz joins PHOENIX from the Lufthansa Group, where he has been responsible for the group’s IT since 2017 as Chief Information Officer. A trained physicist, Dr Schütz has held different management roles at the Lufthansa Group for the last 15 years, including as Chief Information Officer of the largest business segments Lufthansa Cargo and Lufthansa Passage. Prior to that, Dr Schütz held various leadership positions in IT service organisations in the financial industry.
