PHOENIX group appoints new Chief Financial Officer

Dr Carsten Sauerland, currently Chief Executive Officer of HC Trading, the globally operating trading company of HeidelbergCement, will become the new Chief Financial Officer of the PHOENIX group with effect from 1 May 2022. He will succeed Dr Lorenz Näger, who took over the mandate on an interim basis on 24 January 2022 from Helmut Fischer, who is on sick leave. Dr Näger will resume his dormant membership in the Supervisory Board of the PHOENIX group on 1 June 2022.

Dr Carsten Sauerland has held various international positions at HeidelbergCement since 2010. Before taking on the role of CEO of HC Trading, Dr Sauerland was Group Director Reporting, Controlling and Consolidation at HeidelbergCement from 2016 to 2020.

“Dr Sauerland is a competent financial expert with extensive experience in Germany and abroad.
