Apotek 1 became Oslo Airport’s first-ever pharmacy. At last, travellers can obtain the medication and other pharmaceuticals they need at Norway’s largest airport.
“We have worked long and hard for this,” says Veronica Bjørnådal, Apotek 1 Regional Manager, with obvious delight. “We are thrilled that we have finally been able to open this beautiful new pharmacy, right here in Oslo Airport.”
The pharmacy was opened by Tom Staahle, the Mayor of Ullensaker. Knut Arne Colbjørnsen, Group Retail Director, was also very pleased when he announced:
The pharmacy is located next to the main entrance in the arrivals hall on the ground floor. One major benefit of this location is that you don’t have to go through a security check to get to the pharmacy, which means that customers who live nearby can also use the store. Apotek 1 Oslo Airport is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., 365 days a year and will therefore serve as an out-of-hours pharmacy for all those who live in the area around Gardermoen.
Many of the Apotek 1 customers at Oslo Airport will be travelling and might be short of time or stressed, or have even left their medication at home. Veronica Bjørnådal and pharmacist Fredrik Stedt have a plan ready to help travellers in the best way possible, as they explain: “We will be particularly strong on prescription medication, over-the-counter products, travel essentials, sun care, and omega-3,” says Bjørnådal. “We have an extensive range of products in travel-friendly packaging”, Stedt adds.
Pharmacist Fredrik Stedt and the rest of the team have put in a great deal of effort to get everything ready in time. “I’ve been involved in opening a pharmacy store before, but this one took a lot more effort!” says Stedt. “One of the reasons is that Oslo Airport has its own training programme for employees, and that, combined with the high level of security at the airport, makes things more complicated than elsewhere. All of the staff have had to complete a number of mandatory courses in order to work at the airport, but we made it!”
