Materiality

What are the main ways in which we as a company have an impact on the environment and society? That is precisely the question we ask our stakeholders – in direct dialogue as well as through regular surveys. We regard this “materiality analysis” as much more than a reporting obligation, rather it gives us crucial inspiration for our sustainability actions. Only in this way can we keep improving and ensure that we are focusing on the relevant action points with effective measures.

Materiality analysis at a glance

To select the most important sustainability issues, we currently still use a materiality analysis that was conducted in 2015 on the basis of the GRI G4 standard. Our assessment also took into account benchmark comparisons with other companies, our own analyses, the expectations of internal and external stakeholders, and the demands that the PHOENIX group places upon itself.

The analysis that began in 2018 will soon deliver up-to-date findings. The materiality matrix shown here will be adjusted once these results have been evaluated.

  • Stakeholder dialogue

We are keen to hear about the interests and expectations of our stakeholders, because they are a valuable source of information when it comes to establishing the direction of our sustainability activities. The stakeholder survey carried out across Europe in 2015 provided revealing insights. It was supported by more than 4,500 participants from among our employees, suppliers, customers, subcontractors, and other business partners. We eagerly await the results of the 2018 stakeholder consultation, which is taking place in eight representative subsidiaries of the PHOENIX group.
