Commitment to society

Our financial strength means we are in a position to help others. Using our resources to make a positive contribution to the common good, beyond the scope of our core business, is something we take very seriously. We focus our support on children’s health and on scientific advances in pharmaceutical research. All our activities follow our guidelines for donations and sponsorship. With donations totalling €0.9 million in fiscal year 2019/20, we made valuable contributions to the common good.

  • For a future with a good quality of life

Together for a healthy future for children – in 2018, we brought together the PHOENIX group’s social commitment activities under this motto. For over 25 years, we have been supporting KULTURBRAS e.V., a non-profit association based in Germany and Brazil. It opens up prospects for an independent life to street children living in a favela in Fortaleza, north-eastern Brazil. So far, the day-care centre has provided 1,200 children with regular meals, healthcare, and education. The association’s administrative functions in Germany are undertaken voluntarily by a PHOENIX employee. This member of staff also ensures that the donations are put to good use.

  • PHOENIX Pharmaceutics Science Award

The PHOENIX Pharmaceutics Science Award is one of our flagship projects. In October 2018, the prize was presented for the twenty-second time. The initiative’s original intention was to maintain and publicise cutting-edge research in Germany. As the years have gone by, another objective has been added to this aspiration: to use this approach to strengthen the pharmaceutical supply chain in the long term. Every year, an independent jury awards a prize, with a total value of €40,000, to innovative, original work with pharmaceutical relevance carried out in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. The prestigious award is the only one to recognise the latest work from an entire scientific field.

  • More examples of international projects

Our subsidiaries’ other important projects include support for Sweden’s Queen Silvia Hospital; the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), the British Heart Foundation (BHF), and Cancer Research in the United Kingdom. As part of the Do Good campaign, Tamro in Estonia donated around 3,000 pharmaceutical products to families in need during the reporting year. In Romania in 2018, Help Net Foundation and Farmexim together donated over 130,000 euros for charitable projects, including the organisation “Save the Children” Romania, several day-care centres for children with disabilities and illnesses and orphanages.
