Management change and expansion of the Executive Board: Seidel follows Windholz

Sven Seidel, currently member of the Executive Board of the Otto Group, Hamburg, and responsible for Multichannel Retail, will succeed Oliver Windholz, currently CEO of PHOENIX group, as Chairman of the Executive Board as of  November 1, 2019. Windholz will leave the PHOENIX group as published on September 30, 2019. Before joining the Otto Group, Seidel was CEO of Lidl from 2014 to 2017, where he played a decisive role in driving global growth, vertical diversification and digital transformation. 

"With Sven Seidel, we have a highly competent successor who can rely on a wealth of experience in the retail business. We look forward to working with him," said Dr. Bernd Scheifele, Chairman of the PHOENIX group Supervisory Board. 

Marcus Freitag will join the Executive Board of the PHOENIX group on November 1, 2019. He will be responsible for the newly established function Sales and Marketing Pharmaceutical Wholesale/ Pharmacy Solutions. Freitag joined PHOENIX in 2007 and has been Managing Director of PHOENIX Germany since 2017, where he is responsible for sales. 

Frank Große-Natrop, member of the PHOENIX group Executive Board since February 1, 2014 and responsible for Operations and Logistics throughout Europe, will retire as planned on January 31, 2021. The search for a successor is ongoing. 

“The changes will significantly broaden the expertise of the Executive Board. This creates the prerequisites for successfully mastering the future challenges in the market," said Dr. Scheifele.
