PHOENIX group publishes sixth sustainability report

The PHOENIX group documents its commitment to sustainability in the four areas: value creation for customers and companies, protection of the environment, promotion of employees and commitment to society.

The healthcare provider PHOENIX group has published its sustainability report for the fiscal year 2017/18. It documents the company's sustained commitment in the four areas of responsibility: value creation for customers and companies, protection of the environment, promotion of employees and commitment to society.

"We are conscious of the impact of our business activities on people and the environment," says Oliver Windholz, CEO of PHOENIX Pharma SE. "We are responsible for more than 36,000 employees, the production of pharmaceutical waste, the CO2 emissions that we cause on a daily basis by transporting drugs and for the communities in which we operate. That is why it is our goal to grow sustainably - in all divisions, across national borders and along our entire value chain.

In the year under review, the PHOENIX group worked intensively throughout Europe to achieve its sustainability targets: The strategic target of a 10 percent cost reduction for pharmaceutical waste by 2018/19 was achieved ahead of schedule. At the same time, the company saved 89 tons of pharmaceutical waste compared to the previous year, thus conserving valuable natural resources. The healthcare provider also made progress with the goal of reducing the illness rate. In the year under review, the group-wide illness rate fell compared to the 4.47 percent of the base year 2014/15 to 4.05 percent. PHOENIX relies on a continuous, Europe-wide implementation of best practice sharing and occupational health management in order to achieve the goal of a 1 percent reduction.

In addition to the sustainability report, the PHOENIX group has published a sustainability brochure for the first time, which provides a brief and tangible understanding of responsibility.
