- Climate Guideline and fund fully implemented
- Human rights risk management system remains important
- CSRD measures in preparation
The PHOENIX group has published its Sustainability Report 2024/25. In the reporting period, the group of companies focussed on the topics climate protection, human rights, and preparations for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Focus on climate protection
PHOENIX aims to reduce carbon emissions from its own operations by 42% until 2030 compared to the year 2021/22 and to become carbon neutral. This group-wide climate target is supported by an internal Climate Guideline, fully implemented for the first time in the reporting year. The guideline includes a catalogue of measures for reducing emissions at group and country levels. An internal climate fund additionally supports the group’s subsidiaries in their decarbonisation efforts. In fiscal year 2024/25 payouts to various countries facilitated climate projects within PHOENIX group’s own operations.
“Over the past year, we have continued PHOENIX group’s sustainability efforts. Our Climate Guideline contributes to our commitment for carbon neutrality and empowers our subsidiaries to take localised steps in reducing CO2 emissions. We already made significant progress by decreasing our emissions by 6% in fiscal year 2024/25 compared to baseline year 2021/22”, says Leon Jankelevitsh, Member of the Executive Board Healthcare Logistics & Sustainable Supply Chain.
Contributions to climate protection came from energy savings through efficient technology for the operation of buildings and transport optimisation at PHOENIX’s 210 sites across Europe. Also, the company increased its own electricity generation from photovoltaics 2.3 times compared to the previous fiscal year.
Human Rights as cornerstone of value chain management
Furthermore, the PHOENIX group is constantly investing in its risk management system for human rights and environmental risks targeting its own operations and supply chains. It is based on internationally recognised standards.
Continuous CSRD preparations
Preparations for the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive remained a priority for the PHOENIX group. The company continues to integrate sustainability aspects into all relevant company processes. A new data collection solution additionally contributes to transparent and structured reporting.
